Results from the 2022 NYS Freestyle/Greco championships
Over the weekend of May 21st and 22nd, Collegiate Wrestling, sent 3 wrestlers to the 2022 Freestyle and Greco, NYS Championships in Rochester, New York. Those 3 wrestlers were James Carlock, Sean Tansey, and Leo Tansey. On day 1, all 3 wrestled freestyle, however, only Carlock and Sean Tansey were able to walk away with medals, both taking 3rd.
The second day once again saw all 3 wrestlers compete, but this time, all 3 wrestlers were able to earn medals, with Carlock, and L:eo & Sean Tansey taking 3rd in the Greco-Roman portion of the tournament. The double bronze for Carlock and Sean Tansey, and the Greco bronze for Leo Tansey, qualifies all 3 for Fargo, in July.
This is great for NYC wrestling as a whole, as it once again exhibits that we’re getting consistently better at competing on the state level. In addition to the BTS wrestlers that qualified for Fargo at the NE Regionals, in both Freestyle and Greco, I expect a strong showing from NYC wrestling this July.
