On June 30th, 2022, something unprecedented happened. Multiple Beat The Streets organizations put their heads together, to conjure up the first ever BTS National Duals tournament, in Chicago. And based on the footage I saw from wrestlers and coaches, including the responses from both, it looked like everything was well put together, and everyone involved had a great time. Now let’s get down to business, BTS NYC was able to scrap hard and get 2 dual meet wins in the Boys division, over BTS Austin(Texas) and BTS Baltimore(Maryland), en route to a 4th place finish. Out of the boys and girls who competed, 2021 Fargo FS Champion Alessandra Elliot and long-time contender Beautiful Robinson we’re the only wrestlers who managed to go undefeated the entire tournament, with each win coming by either a pin or a tech-fall, which just like the boys, helped the girl’s NYC team to a 4th place finish. Another note on the boys of Gotham, there were four who led the 5 borough contingent in wins(4 wins each), including Omar Tounkara and Eric Bocanagra Jr.; and 4 more who were able to record tech falls! That included 2021 Prep All-American Sulayman Bah, and perennial youth standout Tristan Levin! All-in-all, BTS NYC did a good job, this is the first time that this has ever happened, and I expect growth in all the wrestlers, the organizations, and the event itself in the coming years. Who knows, in the future, this could even be streamed on Flo and held at a cool venue in NYC at some point.
